1942 | Established as a foundation in Hirosaki Home Span (limited company) by Naomichi Yokojima.By the recommendation of Yanagi Muneyoshi of folk art movement, they started basic research such as collecting old “Kogins” |
1962 | Changed the company name to Hirosaki Kogin Institute. First chief Yokoshima Naomichi assumed office. |
1967 | Second Chief Narita Harumasa |
1974 | Yokoshima Naomichi wrote “Tsugaru Kogin” Published by Japan Broadcast Publishing Association |

1991 | Awarded Hirosaki City Silver Swastika Prize |
1996 | “Kogin-Sashi” was designated as Aomori prefecture traditional craft item. |
1999 | In 24th Nation’s Traditional Craft Art Competition recieived Traditional Technology Exchange Award. |
2004 | Laboratory building designated as registered tangible cultural property of the Japan. |
2011 | Hirosaki Chamber of Commerce and Industry as “Japan Brand Business” participated in Paris, Maison Object, Exhibit |
2012 | Yokoshima Naomichi’s “Tsugaru Kogin” republished from NHK as a Complete Reprint Book. Donated to 58 prefectural libraries nationwide. (each libraries were donated two books) |
2013 | Hirosaki Chamber of Commerce and Industry as “Japan Brand Business” participated in Paris, Maison Object, Exhibit |
2013 | Upon the request from Independent administrative agency The Foundation Japan. In 2013, The Japan Foundation Cultural and Art Exchange Overseas Dispatch Project “Tsugaru Kogin-Sashi”, for the lectures and the demonstrations, Narita Sadaharu and Hiromi were dispatched to Russian Federation Vladivostok. |
